Aurora was born in Refugio Texas to parents Luz Guererro & Edubigen “Vickie” Guererro. She moved and was raised in the Corpus Christi Texas with siblings brother Valdemar, and sisters Delia, and Alma. She also grew up very close to extended family Aunts, Uncles, and many cousins.
She met her best friend and life partner Julio C. Garcia in Kingsville, TX at Texas A&I now Texas A&M. They married in 1970 in Corpus Christi TX. Work took Aurora and Julio to New Mexico and Virginia and back home to Texas. Daughter Melinda M. Garcia was born 1974 in New Mexico and son Ronald J. Garcia 1977 in Virginia. The Garcia family settled and raised their family in the Houston, TX area.
Aurora was an educator and received a Masters Degree in Education from Texas A&M honored to the Dean’s List for academic excellence. She chose to be a public school teacher for 30 years working most of her career and retiring in the Spring Branch School District in the Houston, TX area. Her retirement was spent enjoying time with family and welcomed granddaughters Graciela 2007 & Brissa 2009. She loved her family, friends, and time with the Catholic Church and was a 20-year member of the Catholic Daughters.
Aurora was preceded in death by parents Luz & Edubigen, siblings, Valdemar & Alma, and Daughter Melinda. Aurora is survived by Husband Julio, Son Ronald, Daughter-in-Law Silvia, Granddaughters Graciela “Gigi”, Brissa and Sister Delia.
Aurora was deeply loved and will forever be in our hearts. She will be remembered a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, and Servant of God. We are all so thankful and grateful for the time spent and memories with Aurora.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate this wonderful woman’s life during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where Deacon Dan O’Dowd will recite the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive in Houston, 77080, with Reverend Monsignor Dan Sheel as celebrant. Following a brief reception at the church, the Rite of Committal will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, also in Houston.
