Celebrating the life of Austin McMahan Jr., a man of faith, honor and integrity, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Austin was born on October 21, 1942 to Austin McMahan Sr. and Victoria McMahan in Garden Oaks, Texas. He was raised in a home filled with love, faith and family. He was the first of four children. He attended school at Garden Oaks Elementary, Hamilton Junior High, Reagan High School and graduated from Waltrip High School. After graduation Austin proudly served his country by joining the Army and served in 1964 to 1966 during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army and then went on to begin a career as an Engineer for the Texas State Highway Department. He retired in 1992 after serving for 30 years. On June 9, 1967 Austin married the love of his life Lynda at St. Pius the 5th Pasadena. They went on to have three wonderful children together. Austin was involved in coaching his son Michael in baseball. Among his hobbies were bowling, playing bridge, and listening to religion shows until noon every day. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and Delmar Bowling League.
Left to treasure and cherish his memory is his wife, Lynda Hart McMahan; daughter, Crystal Faver (Doug); sons, Austin McMahan III, Michael McMahan (Grace); grandson, Blake Faver (Melissa); granddaughters, Courtney Faver, Morgan Faver, Emma McMahan, Ava McMahan; sister, Ann Browning (Jerry) and brother, Jack McMahan (Beverly).
Austin was preceded in death by his father, A.D. McMahan Sr.; mother, Victoria Eckman McMahan; aunt, Marie Eckman; sister Kay McMahan Resnick and great-grandson, Gunner Faver.
Honoring Austin as Pallbearers are Guy Parker, Floyd Davenport, Jacob Carmona and Josh Bain.
