Born on March 15th in Houston, Barbara was raised in Beaumont, Texas, where she developed a lifelong love of learning and community. She went on to graduate from Lamar University in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in education.
Barbara devoted over 40 years of her life to teaching elementary school. Her passion for education and her students left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A woman of deep faith, Barbara was an active and devoted member of the Methodist Church throughout her life, finding joy and strength in service and fellowship.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Annie Marie Parrish and Joe Parrish. She is survived by her brother, Charles E. Jones, and a loving extended family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in her honor at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 2nd, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
