Barrie attended Northbrook High School in Spring Branch. Years later, while working fulltime for Dr. Edward C. Fritsch, she attended and graduated in June 2016 from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas.
A child of the sixties, Barrie’s personality was bold and larger than life itself. She was an inspiration to many who knew her, always willing to share her knowledge with others. She exuded love and compassion.
She was witty, intelligent, straight-forward and you always knew where you stood with her. Barrie was funny, quick with a quip and could converse on any subject.
Her only child, Allison, was her pride and joy, the love of her life and what she lived for. It was love at first sight for them as they navigated the ups and downs of life together. Barrie’s strength and determination defined both of them. She loved reading, her idol Elton John, and her cats.
Barrie was predeceased by her father, Burlie Ray Bowen, and sister Pamela Joan Bowen. She is survived by daughter Allison Ryan Jubert, her mother, Mary Jo Anderson of Montgomery, Texas, brother, Jeffery Steven Bowen, and sister Deborah Bowen Ganley. She is also survived by step-sisters, Annie Flanders and Niki Steiger with whom she shared her childhood and remained very close.
In keeping with Barrie’s wishes, no formal services are scheduled at this time, but her life will be celebrated in the hearts of family and friends and her memory will live on always.
