

Bernice Annie Kunkel Mattair, age 88, went to her Heavenly Home, December 11, 2014. Born in Paige, Texas, she was a 65 year member of Assumption Catholic Church, a member of St. Vincent de Paul, a charter 38 year member of Harvest Years and Catholic Daughters, and 2 year past president of The Altar Society. Her family and her church were her life. She enjoyed all the celebrations and parties. She enjoyed helping and checking on the sick and lonely, and helped her sisters for many years. She worked for over 50 years, lastly retiring from Foley's. She believed in prayer and prayed the rosary each and every day. She was welcomed to Heaven by Harold Mattair; parents, Emil and Mattie Meuth Kunkel; brother, Melvin Kunkel; and dear sisters, Lorraine Strothoff and Cecilia Barker. Survived by her loving children, Jimmy Mattair and wife Suzanne of Round Top, Texas, Charles Mattair and wife Van of Houston, Texas, Barbara Clark and husband Thomas of Spring, Texas and Vickie Lyn Mattair of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Mattair and wife Rachel, Jeffrey Clark, Christopher Clark, Tuan Vu and wife Julie, Lisa Tran and husband Bobby; great grandchildren, Caiden Clark, Joleigh Clark, Oscar Mattair, Joseph Mattair, Brinlee Clark, Riley Clark and Kendall Tran; sisters, Ruby Jilek, Evelyn Miller, and Esther Kraus; niece, Stephanie Harris; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Rose Lane, Houston, Texas 77037. Rite of Committal will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
