It is with great sadness that the family of Betty L. Schuenke announces her passing in Houston, Texas on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 89 years of age. Betty was born in Houston Texas on November 7, 1929 to Fred and Ethyl Lieder. Raised in Houston, Betty relocated to the Cypress area with her loving husband, Walter, and 2 children, Gerald and Candace in the 1960s. Betty had a zeal for life and a love for her Lord that she shared with all. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening and cooking. She had a love for all Mexican food, but was especially fond of tamales and had a gift for preparing her own for her family and friends to enjoy. She also enjoyed time spent with her three grandsons when they were young as she and Wally showed them the vast expanse of the American countryside while traveling in various recreational vehicles during their very active retirement.
Betty attended Houston public schools, Business College and even enjoyed attending classes at the University of Houston after becoming a Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother F.L. Lieder and sister Ethylene Lieder. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Walter F. Schuenke, son Gerald Schuenke and his wife, Kelly of Duncanville, TX, daughter Candace Hausmann and her husband Clem of Bryan, TX. She is also survived by her three grandsons, Kyle Hausmann of Bryan, TX, Craig Hausmann of Richardson, TX and Cody Hausmann of League City, TX. In addition she also leaves 2 great granddaughters, Lorelei Hausmann of Houston, TX and Elizabeth Hausmann of Bryan TX.
A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Betty will be held on Saturday, January12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 14225 Hargrave, Houston TX, Pastor Steve Henze officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, Houston TX. Pallbearers will be Kyle Hausmann, Craig Hausmann, Cody Hausmann, Donald May, Nathan Henze and Don Longwell.
