Betty Lynn Fones Wandel

Betty Lynn Fones Wandel went to her Lord’s house on Friday December 22, 2023 at the age of 86. Betty was born in Houston, TX on November 3, 1937 to Wallace and Margaret (Carby) Fones. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1955 and then attended the University of Texas in Austin where she was a proud member of Alpha Gamma Delta. She was a committed Longhorn fan and loved watching UT football games.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Wandel; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Frieda (Boysen) Wandel; stepmother, Anna Sue Fones; brother-in-law, Bill Wandel; grandson-in-law, Romeo Gallardo.

Survivors include her sons Wade Wandel and wife Carol of Lexington,TX; Bret Wandel and wife Tara of Kemah, TX; grandchildren Ashley Blankenship and husband Beau, Taylor Martinez and husband Ricky, Callie Cole and husband Dylan, Garrett Wandel; great-grandchildren, Cason Brown, Khloe Gallardo, Roman Martinez, Caden Cole, Luke Cole, and Kinleigh Blankenship.

Services will be held January 9, 2024 at Forrest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery Grand Chapel– 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX 77023. Family will receive visitors at 11am with service at 12pm. Committal service will follow.
