She earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Missouri in Kansas City and upon returning to Houston in 1967 she attain a Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston.
Beverly taught at the University of Houston from 1967 until 1972 then served on the faculty of Dominican College for two years. Beverly chose early retirement to spend more time with her three grandchildren Reed, Stephanie, and Camille. Her fervor for children’s literature continues to influence their lives. Their enthusiasm motivated her to volunteer through Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in the elementary program HUG (Help Us Grow). Wanting the best for every student Beverly was still volunteering as a middle school mentor for this 2015-2016 school year.
MDPC was Beverly’s spiritual home. Through the years she was involved in various Bible studies, taught fifth graders with Doug, attended adult classes, served on the session, participated in sewing projects and volunteered for the prayer chain.
Forever and to the end a teacher, Beverly initiated The Discussion Group at Parkway Place, inviting speakers to share their knowledge on various topics regarding Houston’s Energy Corridor, shale, and cultural life experiences.
