Bonnie Lou ‘Glessman’ Huber was reborn into God’s grace on Monday, February 2, 2015 after spending her last days in the loving care of her family and the kind staff at Hospice in De Pere, WI. She lived previously in Cleveland, Tennessee where she loved her view of the foothills of the Smokey Mountains and before that in Miami, Florida, where she loved the sunshine and the ballparks. Bonnie was Lutheran as a child and later a non-denominational Christian. She was once again baptized at the age of 80 into Christ’s care and love and she was so proud to carry this honor with her into God’s Kingdom. She is preceded in death by her father John Henry (Jack) Glessman, mother Dorothy Opal ‘Bricknell’ Glessman, son Mark Allen Huber, former husband Roman Henry Huber, Stepmother Hattie ‘Paul’ Glessman, Sister Barbara (Bobbie) Glessman Garner, and Uncle Ralph and Aunt Eleanor (Bubbles) Rubsam.
Bonnie is survived by daughter Linda Creamer, son Fred (Debbie Setner) Huber, daughter Diane (Bert) Lundstedt, son Doug (Michelle Westmoreland) Huber and daughter-in-law Jackie ‘McDonald’ Huber. She is also survived by brother Doug (Marie) Glessman, sister Jackie (Jamie) Kight, sister Billie Jean ‘Russell’ Rogers, sister Nora ‘Russell’ Ruffino.
Bonnie was blessed with many grand children who referred to her as Granny, G-Granny, and Baboo (Bonnie Lou). She would never forget a birthday or other special occasion and all were celebrated with a card and a phone call. She would update her calendar year over year, and the dates were all marked and ever increasing as her family grew. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always in her heart and prayers and each loved to outdo the other on being able so send the prettiest picture from a coloring book, the most creative artwork, or the most imaginative freestyle drawing. Many loved to send her poems that usually made it to her refrigerator, where to this day, many notes of love still hang from many years ago. Her grandchildren, in no special order because they were all so dear to her are: Melissa, Alina and Loretta Lundstedt, Jessica and Anita Hunter, Emily and John Henry Huber, Jake Huber, Taylor Ogle, Baily Story and Rylen Huber, Amber Rochelle Huber and James Huber. Bonnie was also blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren and was expecting to celebrate the fifteenth this March.
Bonnie was born in Valley, Nebraska on October 16, 1934 to John Henry ‘Jack’ Glessman and Dorothy Opal ‘Bricknell’ Glessman. She lived with the heartache of losing her mother, Dorothy, to cancer at an early age and always carried her middle name, Opal, as her favorite gem. As a little girl, Bonnie was always so brave and on top of everything. She was the first to try anything she could get away with. She used to love to make mischief with sisters Bobbie and Jackie and tease brother Doug until he would chase her to make her stop, only to fall to the ground laughing. She later loved her blended family when Jack and Hattie married and Bonnie gained two more sisters, Nora and Billy Jean.
Bonnie later met and married Roman (Ray) Henry Huber and they raised their family in southwest Miami where Bonnie loved to be wife, mother and housekeeper. She would spend all of her days caring for her family and shuttling the kids from one ballpark to the next, an event here, a celebration there. She was always the first to volunteer and spent many hours on the PTA and Booster Clubs for the various activities in which all of her children were involved. Bonnie, Ray and Doug later moved to Cleveland Tennessee where she loved the country atmosphere and mellow pace of the south. While in Cleveland, son Mark made his way to heaven and has looked down upon Bonnie ever since. Ray soon followed and Bonnie found herself with much time on her hands and began to work as a Photographic Proofreader and Inspector of professional photographs, yearbooks, and other finely published materials. She finished her working life at the age of seventy-seven at Advanced Photographic Solutions in Cleveland, She made many dear friends while working and, to this day, Bonnie has always been dearly loved and missed by her work mates.
Bonnie moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin and loved the comfort of her cozy apartment where she would spend countless hours watching the birds and wildlife, and she was so proud to drive to the local mom & pop diner for apple pie and vanilla ice cream. She loved the farms and rural life of Wisconsin and she often reflected on how her new home reminded her of travelling the Midwest with her father and siblings. She spent her last couple of months in the loving care of a beautiful Hospice facility in De Pere, Wisconsin where she quickly endeared the staff who cared for her with love and respect, and comforted her during the end of her earthly life.
Bonnie has always given more than she has asked for in return and has donated over five gallons of blood that has been used to better the health and save the lives of many unknown souls. She has a heart the size of Texas and is the first to forgive, the first to forget, and the quickest to say “I love you.”
Bonnie had a very close and personal relationship with our savior, Jesus, and loved to have his likeness, her bible, and his word nearby. But Bonnie’s faith was not lost on the icons of religion, but rather, she wrapped Jesus’ love around her heart and showed that in the way she lived life and loved us all. You will be sorely and sincerely missed, Miss Bonnie Boo.
