I was just thinking about Bonnett the other day....his grin and his humor and his sly wit. There was a gap of time between the early 2000s and when I got to spend time with him again at the gumbo in 2018. None of the things just mentioned about him had changed but what I noticed on that day in November was a gentleness about him that I'd never taken in before. It was probably always there and it just took both of us aging/mellowing for him to show it more and for me to notice it more! The world could do with a few more Chris Bonnetts.

I met Chris 29 years ago at the annual "pig roast" his friend Mike Tusa hosted every autumn. He was a childhood friend of my (now-ex) husband. I enjoyed being around him so much. He had a wicked sense of humor, was a great conversationalist and listener, and treated people kindly.
The world is not nearly as rich as it was when Chris was a part of it. 

Linda, you were so lucky to have him as your life partner and soul mate. 

I had the privilege of working with Chris at the headquarters office of HCC Insurance. I had much respect for him and enjoyed having him as a trusted and talented colleague. I was saddened and shocked when I learned of the severity of his illness. I pray regularly that he has eternal life with our Heavenly Father. 

Chris was one of the nicest men I’ve ever known.  He loved his wife Linda so much and she loved him dearly.   My deepest sympathy to Linda and all his friends and family.

My deepest sympathy  to his family.  Ill never forget Chris with the big smile and positive attitude. He was called Bones and known  as fierce competitor on our high school football team.  Even though we lost touch over the years, I always considered him a true friend.

When we were together o so many years ago, running around as our own Rat Patrol, life was was a long song. We had much to do and to look forward to doing. You were more than a friend. You were my Best Man, my wedding wingman. You, my friend, were the ultimate wingman. You were the best friend to so many of us. God gifted us with Chris Bonnett to bring something special into our lives. It is so difficult when God decides to bring one of us home to Him, especially one of the good ones and too soon. There was much more we needed to do. Our time together was separated by miles over the years but we were never far from each other. And we did get together, it was like being home again. We may be separated now by your passing but we will still be together. You will always be in my heart. Ride boldly ride Bones.

I met Chris about 41-42 years ago. We ended up being roommates for awhile. I’ve always thought of him as a bodhisattva that came back to clear the road forward for so many of us. His intellect and wit will be missed by me as will his infectious laughter and calming influence. We debated countless issues over the years and when I was arrogant he pulled me back down. If  I was low he lifted me up. When I was young my father told me you can count your true friends on one hand. Chris was a true friend. I will miss you Bones. Your passing “put the load right on me.” You are irreplaceable and my heart breaks over your death and for Linda who must carry on without you. Peace brother. 

I want to thank Chris for being my friend and I am grateful  for everything he did for me. Chris I will look for you on the other side some day.
