Chris attended public School in Houston, Texas and graduated from Kashmere High School in 1991. After graduation Chris attended Texas Southern University. During his earlier years he attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Throughout his life, he touched many with his kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and deep sense of humor. He was a man who valued family above all, cherishing each moment spent with those he loved. Chris was the proud father of his son Xavier Hall and his relationship with Xavier was a source of immense pride; they shared a special bond that spanned over the years.
On February 5, 2000, Chris married Jocellia Roach and together they built a beautiful life and family. To this union one daughter was born, Loryn Christyna. Chris and Loryn’s relationship was loving. He always encouraged her to pursue her dreams and embrace her unique talents. Chris’ love for his children was always his main priority and he kept their best interests at heart.
A man of integrity, Chris worked at South Western Bell/AT&T for 13 years, where he was respected by his colleagues and admired for his dedication and hard work. His character and joyous spirit brought life to his coworkers and all he was around. He later moved that same dedication and spirit to MCA Communications where he was employed for the past 12 years. Outside of work, you could find him fishing, hunting or muddling in his jeep. As an avid sports fan, Chris would enjoy watching his favorite Texans and Astros.
His father, Wilbert Orphey, Sr., and maternal grandparents Albert and Louisiana Benoit preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife Jocellia Roach Orphey of 24 years; son Xavier Hall and daughter Loryn Christyna; mother Rosalind Orphey, brothers Wilbert Orphey, Jr. (Aquisha), Jason Orphey (Roshawn), Scott Orphey, Dawayne Guillory (Cathy), and Dominique Orphey; sister Tracy Perry (Kevin); uncle Albert Benoit, Jr. (Glenda), a host of nieces, nephews and a wide circle of extended family, friends, and colleagues. His presence will be greatly missed, but his legacy of love, strength, joyous spirit and kindness will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
