Craig fought hard and survived years past when the doctors expected him to die. It was due to the love and will of Craig and Paula wanting more days together. She would not let him leave her. Their bond kept both of them going and enjoying silly days of dancing in his wheelchair to fifty’s music and twirling him around until he needed to stop from dizziness. Craig was a life long fisherman. They enjoyed many fishing trips and Paula was always his adventurous partner. Craig was such a romantic and wanted to go to Provence on a trip while Paula wanted to go to the Amazon and fish for peacock bass. Sooo… off they went on their adventure with the malaria mosquitoes and cayman crocodiles. On another trip, they took their daughters to Colorado for a fun trip canoeing and zip lining….Craig was a little nervous about heights on a zip line course. While he was performing the sign of the cross, Paula gave him a little nudge off the platform as the girls squealed with laughter. One summer, Brian went with everyone to Vermont on an adventure, the days were filled with summer tobaggoning and horseback riding. It was so much fun, even though the family was packed like sardines in the SUV.
Craig and Paula were late bloomers and had Sterling and Savannah so close together, everyone had to pitch in, including Brian and Aunt Lynnie to help raise the two girls. It was a group adventure for sure. Their birthdays and holidays were always filled with love and laughter of the blended families with their friends becoming family. Craig loved all of you.
You have made Craig’s life so rich and he/we loved you for it. Our old neighbors are the much loved Gerow’s and they are valued beyond words. Aunt Lynnie, Aunt Susie, Wendy Patterson and Wes Wright have always been there for us through the hard times and these are hard hard times to have lost a person so rare to our heart, so many of you are his much loved friends.
Craig founded Orthopedic Specialties where Brian and Craig worked together and they grew the company to a very successful national orthopedic sales organization. Craig then went on to work for Avidian Wealth Management, where he loved his dear group of friends. He always said that he felt like a “money psychologist” for his clients. After his early retirement, his clients would call him at home and ask “Can I buy a $300,000 RV”? Craig would talk, laugh with them and they would soon feel better.
We are at a loss for the life taken away from us but Craig was a strong Christian, believed in prayer and knew Jesus was waiting for him in heaven. Our grief will never leave us…ever…. We miss him everyday and long to hear his voice and laughter again.
Preceded in death by his parents, Craig is survived by his wife Paula, his son Brian J. Buhr (Chelsey/Emmy), his daughters Sterling F. Baker (Kyle/Logan), Savannah F. Buhr, his sisters Sharon Rice and Denise Kruse.
We grieve his loss……
