

She was a straight A honor student, receiving her education at Katherine Smith Elementary, NR Burger Middle School (Hattiesburg, MS), Fondren Middle School (Houston, TX), and Challenge Early College High School. When public school was no longer an option the wonderful staff of MD Anderson Private School was able to step in and help her continue her studies.
Danija was also an avid dancer. She found her love for dancing at the shy age of 6, dancing for AllStar Elite of Houston, Tx. Danija also shared her spirit of dance with NR Burger Cheer (Go Tigers), Golden Prancerettes of Hattiesburg, MS, and ending with Majestic Moves of Houston, Texas.
Danija Washington, 15, passed away on October 16, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. True to her fighting spirit, she gave us a year longer than doctors expected.
She is tremendously missed by surviving members of the family including parents: Dominique Jarmon and James Washington, Step-parents: Mervin Smith Jr. and Brandy McNeil, her siblings: Jayla Franklin, Chaelin Smith, Jaylan Franklin, JaMiyah Davis, DaVeon Washington, Maurice Cannon, and Braylon McNeil, Loving Grandparents: Claudette Jarmon, Patricia Ann Washington, and Ruben Louis Berkley III, Great grandmother: Betty Jean Jarmon, Great Aunts: Paulette Jarmon, JoAnn Lewis Jones, Reba Berkley, Great Uncles: James Charles Berkley, David Smith, William Smith Jr., God Parents: Cicelyn E. Davis and Ruben L. Berkley IV, And a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death is her Grandmother Jacqueline Berkley, Great Grandfather James Louis Jarmon, Aunt Florence Washington, and Uncle Wayne Brown.
Her smile is brighter than the stars that sparkle high above. She is always listening.
She takes the time to live and laugh. God, bless our dear daughter and hold her in your care.
