He was born on August 27, 1958 to Derald Ray and Jo Evelyn Grant in Houston, Texas.
Darren married Regina on March 20, 1982 and had one son, Brandon Ray Grant.
He married Marion on October 9, 1993 and had one son, Dylan Ray Grant.
Darren is preceded in death by his parents and stepbrother, Harold. He is survived by his wife Marion Grant; brother, Dean(Lourdes), stepsister Sherree White (Joe), and sons, Brandon (Staci), and Dylan (Samatha).
Darren graduated from South Houston High School in 1976. He worked at Armco Steel before becoming a Houston Firefighter in 1983. He served as a firefighter/EMT for 35 years and was also a part of the High-Rise Rescue team. He started working as a volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 1989 where he served as a committeeman, captain, and assistant club chairman for the Corral Club, before becoming a Lifetime Committeeman. He became a President in the Hold‘em and Hit‘em Club in 2001. He loved classic cars and motorcycles and was involved with various clubs throughout his lifetime. His love of cars was passed on to his sons. He loved going to car shows with his boys and lining their cars up together, where they won various awards for their classic cars.
Darren will always be remembered as being a wonderful family man. He was an amazing husband and father. He was a genuine, loyal friend to so many and was always willing to help out anyone in need. He was loved by all and we will miss him dearly. His ability to make everyone feel like family endeared him to many.
You will always be in our hearts. Until we meet again.
A visitation for Darren will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
A funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
A graveside service will occur Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 12:30 PM at South Park Cemetery, 1310 North Main St, Pearland, TX 77581.
Due to Covid -19 restrictions, masks are required at all services.
