David was married to Jeri Harrington-Dubec and had one child, Erik Dubec. David was preceded in death by his wife Jeri, his parents Frank and Erika, and his younger brother Steven. He is survived by his son Erik; siblings, Annie Dubec Britton, Frankie Alan Dubec, and Dolores Dubec; nieces and nephew, April Stephens, Melissa Kuchar, Jenny Hollensworth, Brian Chamblee, and Katrina Chamblee.
David was born the middle child and was normally quiet and even-tempered. As a child, David was a typical sibling, including a healthy dose of sibling rivalry. He was very opinionated and not shy of expressing his opinion, leading to many disagreements with his siblings. This is typical of how the Dubec children were.
David was an easygoing individual who had a very dry and unique sense of humor. He was a gentle, loving soul who cared for his wife, child, siblings, parents, in-laws, and everyone else with whom he had built a relationship. He had a soft spot for animals and, as you may know, was a foster parent for many animals. He was constantly trying new things and enjoying new hobbies as though he wanted to experience everything the world had to offer. His interests ran from cooking to astronomy, fashion to car repair, music to programming, pretty much any interest one could have was one he shared.

Ode to David Dubec
David, as a little boy, you had an impish grin which won the hearts of many.
Scraped knees, dirty shirts, and climbing trees,
For you was a day spent in joyous ease,
Though for mom, the results were not always so pretty.
At the age of four, you learned to read, which made your family proud,
You took that skill to engineering school, where many more were wowed.
Your love of animals, started out quite young, showed up and stayed throughout your life,
You and Jeri took in strays, fostered pups and kittens, often staying up all night.
Known to drive to far off cities, to rescue those from storms
And volunteering at the wildlife center, where hungry orphans were the norm.
You both introduced to Eric, the will to feed and comfort those less fortunate than we,
He will be guided throughout his life by that same spirit of generosity.
A sweet kind fun and gentle father you greatly loved your son, the many times you all played games and ate pizza on the run.
The many talks and gentle guidance, the sweet caring life you showed your wife,
bequeaths to Erik a precious example, not soon to be forgotten as he goes throughout his life.
David, you could talk for hours on most any subject and held your ground with passion
As we all grew up we came to learn it was the Dubec fashion.
Knowing your dreams that will go unmet, are those that fill me most with regret.
There is so much more to write, and much I do not know, but that green silk scarf you dyed for me, was evidence of your love to see.
We will all miss you so
