

Our beloved father David C.Serra entered into eternal rest on November 25th 2020 at 12:45 am. Surrounded by his loving family he peacefully entered into his saviors arms after a long time battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Our dad joined the service at the age of 18 as a proud member of the US Army. He was a front line defender during the Korean War. Upon his return he would marry the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Phyllis D Serra. They welcomed 5 children Felicia, Sandra, John, Joanna, and Melissa into their lives. Then later their grandchildren Erica, Justin, Olivia, Dillon, and 4 great grandchildren. With his loving wife’s support he became a registered pharmacist. David was an entrepreneur and businessman establishing his own pharmacy in second ward. Together with his wife created a food concept called Fiesta Tacos, which became a favorite meeting place for the family to gather and celebrate life. David is preceded in death by his parents Juan Manuel Serra and Olivia Asaf, sisters Beatrice Hernandez and Mary Youens and brothers Alejandro Cantu and John Asaf jr. He is survived by his 5 children, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Eva Barlow, Betty Costancio and brother Robert Asaf and his 101 year old uncle Arnulfo Cantu who he looked up to as a father figure.
A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
