My deepest condolences with Delinda. I've learned to know Delinda as senior team member in a new role that started January 2020, while I had a few accessional contacts with her during project 'Babylon' yours earlier. Delinda had an enormous strong passion and was always so loyal in her work. Her energy seemed to be endless. She put the bar high for herself and for her colleagues and had a tremendous finance knowledge. The accounting references made during the service resonated with how I have known Delinda. Always willing to make herself available to help if I had any questions. She enjoyed to share her pride she had for her family. She told us how much she missed you and the dogs during her stay in Netherlands. She was incredibly strong, may she Rest In Peace. I wish you all the strenght with Delinda's terrible loss!

I met Delinda when we were both members of a team that was driving the replacement of a major document management system in use across Shell world-wide: she as the finance lead, me as the value delivery lead. It was easy to find each other in dedicated drive for delivery, desire to immediately fix problems, and the humor and support for each other that was necessary to stay standing in what was a whirlwind of a programme under fire to deliver. 

It was some 5 years later that I had the chance to bring Delinda on board in a new team that was to help operationalize a new delivery organization from scratch. I never thought about it twice and never regretted it for a second. 

The partnership with Delinda grew into and easy and comfortable friendship in the time that she spent here in the Netherlands, talking about everything from our kids, to our personal perspectives about women and careers :), how to deal with both issues at play in work and home life, whether Tanqueray 10 beats Bombay Sapphire, and the fun of having corgis in your life. When she was back in the US and the lockdown drove us to work virtually, she adjusted her working day to create decent overlap with India and NL (typically Delinda) and we developed a 'routine' of quick connections at the end of the Dutch working day to decompress and dissect what was happening on our playing fields in the office and at home. 

The way we were able to work together to make things happen under difficult circumstances was truly the best possible: as trusted colleagues and friends, open and honest dialogue, helping each other to make whatever we got our hands on together better as a result.  She made a big difference in the team, as an uplifting and connecting force of positive energy.  I don't think there is anyone that knew  her that didn't feel that way. 

She left a big hole that will be impossible to fill.  I loved her, and will miss her terribly. 

I'm so sorry to hear this news.  I have such warm memories of wonderful Delinda from my time with her in Century Singers at Texas A&M.  She was always upbeat, so darn smart, beautiful in every way, and a wonderful hostess.  She was the kind of person who makes a big impression and memories of her have always brought with them a happy feeling to me over the years.  I'll have all of her heartbroken loved ones and friends in my prayers,

The service was very touching and loved Jesus Loves Me closing. I think every Cousin was taught that song and can sing it by heart.

Delinda and I were good friends in high school and it was great to catch up with her at class reunions.  After she and Terri Albers Griffin McDonald planned our 40th reunion in October of 2019, Delinda and I  got together at Einsteins in Cleak Lake for coffee and bagels and a good, long one-on-one chat.  We shared how we had both taken time out of our career pursuit to spend more time with our sons and that those memories were especially precious.  Delinda was excited about her new opportunity to spend more time in the Netherlands, so we weren't sure when we would be able to chat again.  The next thing I heard was about Delinda, Mike and one of their sons all having COVID.  I joined the facebook group and followed Mike's daily updates and prayed for Delinda's recovery and her family to have the strength to support her through all the struggles.  She looked so joyful giving the thumbs up after the successful surgery to remove the ECMO.  Today's memorial service  uplifted me and I am sure many others as we all got a chance to say a final fare thee well to a wonderfully, funny, compassionate woman.  She is missed.


I had the privilege to work with Delinda in Shell and also got the chance to help her in the Shell Women in Finance events.   Delinda was such a warm-hearted person.  Her beautiful smile, her care for others and her passion for life will be greatly missed!!! It is hard to imagine this day and it is even harder to imagine the pain that Mike, Stephen and Andrew are going through.  But we trust in God’s plan and in His sovereign, He wants our very dear Delinda to finally have rest and peace in His house.   So as we say goodbye to Delinda, I know that she is now in a better place.   Our loss is heaven’s gain today!

I first met Delinda when we worked at Star Enterprise at Northborough.    She always met me with a welcoming smile and had a way to quickly figure out how she could help  with great advice.   Several years later I joined SWIFT (Shell Women In Finance Together) where Delinda was the last original team member of this initiative to help Women advance through laughter, learning and connection.   She was a pioneer  who passionately drove for the things she believed in and paid attention to every detail because everything mattered.  I'm sure her family will remember the many flower arrangements she would make ahead of an event!   
I will miss seeing her in the corridors, but her legacy will be forever remembered.   Thank you for making a difference in my life.

It was an honor to call Delinda my cousin and I loved her dearly.  She was soft spoken but had a voice like an angel that would put a smile on those hearing her sing.  Her memory will forever live in our hearts and mind. Love you Cuz!

Delinda had a beautiful voice. I will always remember her singing at Allyson’s wedding back in the 80’s. I admired Delinda and felt a connection with her being a younger sister of two girls myself. Wish I could’ve gotten to know the adult Delinda better. I so appreciate the family zoom call we had not that long ago that she coordinated. I got to see her smiling face! I love you, Delinda! I will see you again!

There are no words to say that can solve your grief.  Just know that Delinda is in a better place and that she will share the rest of life with you in unique ways, that you don't expect.
Life will be hard for sometime because she was the love of your life. Family, friends, and time does help you get through.  I am  there whenever you want to reach out to talk - about the two great men you both raised or any other items I might be helpful with.
One piece of advice - let others help you.  This is another example of it takes a community to live a full life.

Delinda was my treasured friend.  She was so clever, warm, funny, and kind. Her optimism and positive approach were inspiring.  When things went wrong, she’d allow herself a few minutes to wallow/yell/whatever, and then she’d focus on fixing it and moving forward.

I’ll miss Delinda’s laugh, and her hugs.  I’ll miss her counsel, she was my sounding board so many times, both personal and professional.  I’ll miss nattering with her, I’ll miss dissolving into giggles over something ridiculous which was not that funny, but in the moment it really was.

She was very special. The world is smaller.


Delinda brightened rooms with her smile and enriched lives with her compassion and generosity. I pray that her family and friends find comfort in her memories. 

I'm pretty sure Delinda spent 99% of her life working to make other people's lives better.  I have a feeling she even did it in the hospital. Her warmth, kindness, strength and faith were evident every time I was with her or spoke to her.  When I read all the comments, it just shows how many lives she touched.  She definitely had a profound impact on so many and was an example of how we should all live .   You will be missed! Find your peace amongst the angels!

Part 2

Often in times of grief, I remind myself that God has a plan — we don’t always understand it, and we often don’t agree with it—but there is a plan. In one of our FaceTime calls when things seemed to be moving in the right direction, I remember Delinda saying, “God must have something special he wants me to do. I just have to figure out what it is!” After reflecting, I realized that Delinda had been doing God’s work all her life! I think God was saying, “Delinda, you have served me well.. Now is the time to rest!”

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” —Psalms 73:26

I’ve thought non-stop about Delinda, but I’ve also thought about Mike, Stephen, Andrew and Virginia. First, I want you to know how proud she was of ALL of you... you were her life! I loved sharing stories about family. I’m amazed at the strength and faith you all showed through this journey. I have a lot to learn from not only Delinda, but from each of you as well. Mike, I especially loved how you ended every update with a specific prayer.

Delinda obviously had an impact on many during her time on earth, and her legacy will live on. During her battle, when we all felt helpless, Christy (the third musketeer a.k.a. “Sistas”) would always say, “I keep thinking... what would Delinda do?” Since Delinda’s passing, several friends have reached out. One friend bought groceries for someone behind her, in honor of Delinda. She told another friend, and she did the same. Multiple people have said they want to be more like Delinda or the world could use more Delindas. My daughter actually said, “I want to be Delinda!”

Her strength, kindness, and influence on others lives will live on forever!

I will truly miss my Delinda... she was a”sista” to me! Rest In Peace, my dear friend!

Part1

I’ve had a million thoughts in my head this week, and I can never put into words how special Delinda will always be to me. I’ve known Delinda for almost 20 years, but I really got to know and love her the last 10+ years. I consider Delinda one of my very best friends.

Everyone who knows Delinda knows that she is a planner— no detail too small (she could even drive you crazy sometimes with her details 😊). As I reflect on my relationship with Delinda, and as I read the many tributes around her kindness, it amazes me that she was willing to drop any plans she had to help someone else at a moments notice.

I have several examples where Delinda made me a priority, but I’ll only share a couple. 

When my Mom passed away a couple years ago, it was right before Christmas. Delinda, as a working Mom, didn’t hesitate to hop on a plane...fly to New Orleans... rent a car... drive to MS for the service and spend the day with me. I know she had a million things to do, but that didn’t stop her!

Last year, I was in the hospital over my birthday. Delinda arranged a drive-by birthday parade 3 days after I was home. That may seem simple, but she / Mike drove from Clear Lake to my home in the Woodlands. It literally took them 3 hours for a 5 minute parade... again, she didn’t hesitate!

One person wrote that you remember someone by the way they make you feel. She always made me feel as if I were special. What I now realize more than ever, is that Delinda is extraordinarily special. I don’t know anyone who instinctively defaults to helping others (whether you are a long-time friend or you just met) like Delinda did!

So... there is a limit to letters... I have so much to say... I’ll just have to enter Part 2 (I think Delinda would do that😉)

Delinda was an amazing, awe inspiring lady! She brought energy and fun to team meetings even at 4am in the morning with her dedication. She was the ultimate professional, brilliant at her job, a good coach who also challenge you to do even better. I feel so lucky I got to work with Delinda this past year. I will miss her.

Delinda was one of them. I had the privilege to work with Delinda in Shell. She was based in Houston and I in Chennai, India. Though physically we were miles apart, our work brought us together. I loved Delinda for her down to earth  attitude. She was so balanced when she gave any advice. Not sure when our professional relationship turned into friendship.  She really cared for people. Full of energy and always ready to help the team, share her knowledge and help make connections to resolve issues.

Even though we moved to other roles in Shell where we didn't have to work together, Delinda stayed in touch. She made it a point to keep me informed every time she made a visit to India and would always bring a beautiful gift along.

I'm honoured and blessed to have known such a beautiful person and over the past few months as she fought with the virus, she brought many of us closer to God.  

Saddened by the shocking news of her death. May God give her eternal rest and may her soul rest in peace.

I was blessed to work with Delinda at Shell for several years and co-lead with her the Shell Women in Finance events. She loved making the workplace better for everyone around her! Delinda was always there to make sure I was included and important. When my window was broken at my home mid day, she stopped everything to drive me home and make sure it was a safe home to return home to. She also made sure my 50 year birthday was a week of small celebrations and made me feel truly loved in the workplace, which is a rare and beautiful talent. She was always a ray of sunshine every single day I saw her, and I am truly blessed I got to know her.

I met Delinda through an ad Delinda posted in the Green Sheet for childcare. I answered the ad and Delinda chose me to take care of Stephen, who was 4 and Andrew who was almost 2 at the time. I know this was a God thing. Delinda was a blessing in my life and I'm grateful to have known her. I'm grateful for her friendship, for her guidance and for her love. She had the most beautiful, kind, generous heart.  When I bought my car she was with me to help me and to make sure everything went o.k. When I had surgery she went to the hospital to be with Floyd and when I turned 60 she brought  balloons and cake to the pre-k where I worked. These are three of many  memories that I have of Delinda that spoke to her loving, thoughtful spirit. She was like a sweet sister to me and I'll miss her. I count myself among the lucky to have known her and call her friend.

I was shocked to learn of the loss of Delinda as a result of this terrible disease.  I haven’t been in touch with her since my retirement but was so fond of her.  She was truly a light in every room she entered.  She was smart, energetic, and just a delight in every way.  I will be in prayer for the family and hope that God blesses you with the strength and peace you need in the days ahead.  

I had the great pleasure of working with Delinda at Shell. She was a bright light every day. Delinda put so much effort into everything she did, especially the Shell staff events. 

We are so sorry to hear of her passing and the family is in our prayers.

I am from Michigan.  I first met Delinda waiting in line for coffee at church in Houston.  I was with my sister, who was having cancer treatment.  Right away, Delinda invited us to stay at her home each time we were in the area. Who does that?!  I often joke that I hope to grow up to be just like her, though we were close to the same age!  Since then, the Sterling’s have visited us in Michigan, Delinda introduced me to San Antonio’s River Walk, and we became Chocolate Spa Divas in Hershey, PA.  She invited me to visit her in the Netherlands this past year.  Her kindness, generosity and sense of adventure were unparalleled.  At my sister’s funeral, in Wisconsin, Delinda quietly pressed a beautiful, silver, James Avery pendant in my hand:  a butterfly with a cross in the center…it is a symbol of The Resurrection, of new life.  She reminded me that we will all be together again.

As we all know, there's all kinds of people in this world. But every so often, we get to see a certain kind of personality that has that amazing ability to light up a room with joy, warmth and endless laughter. That was Delinda! I never had a chance to work with her much, except with the occasional chat or maybe at an offsite event. But with the case of Delinda, that's all the time a person needs to immediately see her for the gem of a person she was. I don't think I've seen her anything but jovial. At the same time she was able to focus all her energies when it came to work or anything else that she did.

She will be missed! I cannot imagine how much more intense that feeling will be for her family. Keeping them in our prayers.

I first met Delinda in Houston 12 years ago and will never forget her positive attitude, smiling face & dry humour. I recently had the chance to work closely with Delinda and her manager Gina on a project and my daily meetings with them both were full of laughter and positive energy despite some very challenging work; we all shared a joint love of Tanqueray 10 gin, I will be raising a glass of this to Delinda and her family on Saturday 30th. May you rest in eternal peace, I leave you with a short poem.

It is with great sadness that I have learned of Delinda’s passing, I am at a loss for words.  Delinda has made a notable impact when she joined IT Engineering during her STIA in the Netherlands. Delinda was a great professional and she was a pleasure to work with, consequently I will dearly miss her. My heart goes out to Delinda’s family in this difficult time. 

Though I had limited interaction with her, I fondly remember the SPC dinner we had in The Hague in Feb 2019. She was the Masterchef there. We shared  our experiences of both being away from home and even though she was much senior to me, what really impressed me was her friendliness and candid nature. Few weeks later, I recall her telling me she would be leaving NL before the lockdown kicks in and that was the last time I spoke to her/met her.  I will always remember her for her joyous nature. God Bless the family and God Bless her kind soul.

Like so many have already shared, Delinda was a joy to work with and be around.  My favorite ‘work’ with Delinda was getting to taste test menu options for events.  We shared a love of good food and her event skills were second to none!  RIP, we love you, and you will be missed.

This news came as a bolt from the blue. I have worked with Delinda for a few years and my kids know her as the NASA lady. I remember her jokes and the spirit and warmth that she brought to work everyday.

At some point when her friends are able to get together in person, I know we will have a toast to her at Lupe Tortilla - her favorite place to meet - and think about the wonderful memories and impact she had on both our personal and professional lives. What a person remembers is how someone made them feel.  

Delinda always gave me warm feelings.  She was someone who encouraged me and gave me wings as a photographer and artist before I really knew my worth.  

She smiled easily and was kind to everyone. Most of all, I could tell how passionately she loved her family.  It is very sad that she passed on so early, but the life she lived is one that no one could ever be ashamed of.  She lived it to the fullest and gained the love and affection of so many.  Even though I only knew her for a few short years, she left an imprint in my heart.

May she rest in peace in the arms of her Father in heaven whom she loves, and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to have crossed paths with such a woman.

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to high school with Delinda but didn't know her. I have been praying for her and your family all along. I am so glad that you are confident in the hope of reuniting with her some day. What a blessed assurance!

Sending you our deepest condolences during this time. I met Mrs. Delinda at Mike's birthday celebration at Whiskey Cake, where we had great conversation about family. It was a pleasure to met both her and your sons. I am deeply saddened for your loss.

Delinda flew to Germany(!) to help me after the birth of my 4th child, since my husband was in the military and not around much. She was the model of a true friend and a wonderful human who accepted me as I am. I really miss her.
