

She was born on 6th September 1929, Houston, Texas to Maria and Gerardo Alvarado. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and friend to so many. She was a truly beautiful woman, inside and out, always faithful to our Lord. While worshiping the Lord at First Mexican Baptist church in Second Ward she met Johnny, the love of her life. They were able to share their love with each other for 51 years. Mom was known for her beautiful sewing talent, she made her daughters’, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, nieces and numerous friends clothing. Mom truly enjoyed baking, cooking and always serving her fresh brewed sweet tea. Retired from NFISD; East Houston Elementary School after 20 years of service as Bilingual Professional Aid.
Lena is survived by her Daughter Angelica Honeycutt, Grandchildren, John Thomas Balderas, Victoria Gordon (Dustin), Katrina Torres (Gustavo), Jonathan Davis, Scott Honeycutt (Pat), Greg Honeycutt. Lena also leaves 18 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A very caring, loving and genuinely devoted Nurse Bernadette. Preceded in death by her husband Juan Balderas; son, John Paul Balderas, daughter in law, Francis Balderas. A very loving and caring son in law Cliff Honeycutt. Great Grandson Jacob Davis, four sisters and two brothers. She lived life to the fullest with a lot of love and laughter.
A visitation for Lena will be held Wednesday October 11th, 2023 at 11am at Forest Park Lawndale, a Funeral service will be held Wednesday October 11th, 2023 at 12pm, Forest Park Lawndale Chapel of Angels, with a burial to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
