

Dora Alicia Lara, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away on December 9, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Born on April 19, 1960, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Dora was the third born daughter of Jose Valentin Medina and Maria Guadalupe Medina. From a young age, she was full of life and determination, excelling as a talented soccer and softball player. As she grew, her greatest role became that of a devoted and loving mother and an extraordinary homemaker.
Dora poured her heart into caring for her family. She was the proud and devoted mother of Janet Siros (49), Brenda Sanchez (47), Cindy Hernandez (45), and Christian Medina (25), all of Houston, Texas. She found joy in sewing and lovingly creating costumes for her daughters’ school performances, and she dedicated countless hours volunteering at their schools. As the matriarch of her family, Dora faced life’s challenges with strength and grace, always providing for her loved ones against all odds.
Her children were her pride and joy. Dora taught them the importance of faith in God, hard work, and striving to become the best versions of themselves. She cherished family time, and her children always felt her unwavering love and support. A wonderful cook, Dora delighted in opening her home and hosting family gatherings, filling the house with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable meals.
Dora also found deep fulfillment in helping others. She was kind, compassionate, and thoughtful, always looking out for her friends and taking special care to check on elderly loved ones. Her generosity and gentle spirit touched many lives.
Dora was preceded in death by her father, Jose Valentin Medina, and her brother, Victor Medina. She is survived by her loving husband, Reynaldo Lara Castro; her children, Janet Siros, Brenda Sanchez, Cindy Hernandez, and Christian Medina; her mother Maria Guadalupe Medina, nine cherished grandchildren, four brothers and seven sisters who will forever remember the love, laughter, and warmth she brought into their lives.
Dora Alicia Lara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
A visitation will be held at Heights Funeral Home, located at 1317 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77008, on December 18, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same venue on December 19, 2025, starting at 10:00 am and concluding at 10:45 am.
A committal service is scheduled for December 19, 2025, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, located at 3506 N Main St, Houston, TX 77009.
