He attended school at St. Mary of the Lake in Chicago, Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL, and The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He made lifelong friends in grade school, high school, and college.
Dorian was passionate about Chicago sports teams, and seeing his Cubbies win the World Series in 2016 was one of his greatest joys. He was also a converted Michigan State fan, a requirement to be part of Kim's family.
Dorian worked in the cable tv business for many years, and he was a true techie at heart. He was very gracious in providing tech support to family and friends.
He had an eclectic taste in music, and it is one of the things that connected him to Kim when they met. They saw a variety of concerts together, from Sarah McLachlan to Jay Z.
Dorian enjoyed many trips with Kim to Mexico over the years. His favorite vacation was a trip to Greece in 2010. He was an avid Star Wars fan, and Kim eventually became one too, but no matter how many times he explained the chronological order of all the movies and tv shows, she could not keep it straight.
He loved his family and friends fiercely and was fondly known for his big heart, sense of humor, and exuberant personality. Dorian had a fond admiration for his nephew and nieces, often purchasing unique gifts for them, that they treasure today.
Dorian will be missed dearly by so many who loved him.
Dorian is survived by his loving wife Kim Richardson; mother Anita Richardson-Slimmer (Robert); father General Crook (Kathy); sisters Genneral Edmunds, Jermaine Powell, and Cassie Slimmer-Weber (Eric); brothers General Crook Jr. (Cathy), James Slimmer (Michele), and Jesus Ricardo Rivera (Ana). He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, extended family and dear friends, all of whom will cherish his loving memories.
Services will be held in Chicago in the coming months. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Combined Arms in Dorian's memory.
