Doris A. Casserly

Doris Ann Casserly, February 10, 1927 – November 28, 2015. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Raymond T. Casserly, Sr., parents Gus and Annie Clede, and twin siblings, Marion Clede and Mary Surginer. Doris and Ray were blessed with 10 children and is survived by them and their spouses: Kathleen Shirley and husband John; Katherine Chenoweth and husband Harold; Raymond T. Casserly, Jr. and wife Fran; Dennis Casserly and wife Linda; Mary Bancroft and husband David; Patrick Casserly and wife Rita; Edward Casserly and wife Ricci; Susan Brawner and husband Brad; David Casserly and wife Gaynel; John Casserly and wife Dee; 23 Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her siblings’ spouses, Jack Surginer and Antoinette Clede, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doris was born in Houston and graduated from Incarnate Word Academy. In addition to raising 10 children with Ray, she worked in the General Office at the University of St. Thomas for 13 years. After retirement, she loved traveling with Ray and her favorite pastime was reading, mostly romance novels. She was a longtime, faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church in the Heights.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 5:00PM – 8:00PM with the Rosary at 7:00PM at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 4 at 10:00AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 201 East 10th St., followed by interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Doris’ name to the University of St. Thomas.
