Dorothy Ann Sopchak, 82, was born on March 1, 1936 in Brenham, Texas and went to be with our Lord in heaven on July 3, 2018 in Spring, Texas. She was raised in Chappell Hill, Texas and moved to Houston as a young girl where she fell in love and married the man of her dreams, Martin Sopchak. She loved raising her family and also enjoyed cooking, shopping, traveling, embroidery, reading, playing Bingo, watching and cheering for her favorite team the Houston Astros, playing with her grandchildren and dancing the polka!
She is preceded in death by her husband Martin, son Carl, parents Wallace and Janie Kominczak, brother Paul and sisters Mary, Regina, Cecelia and Helen.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Sopchak, Laureen Theiss (husband Van), Karen Van Marter, Tina Spitzenberger (husband Howard); grandchildren, Kristi Kraeger (Adrian), Wesley Sopchak, Travis Sopchak (fiancée Lori), Stephanie Collier (Aaron), Kevin Theiss (Brittany), Nathan Theiss (Hayley), Patrick Sopchak (Megan), Joel Sopchak (Melissa), Clinton Sopchak, Ryan Van Marter, Payton Dorris, and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank everyone that took care of Mom the last several years, especially the staff at Autumn Leaves of Cypresswood, The Broadmoor at Creekside and Elysian Hospice Care.
Please join the family for a visitation from 5-8 pm on Monday, July 9, 2018 with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 pm at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Rd., Spring, TX 77389 followed by the Rite of Committal at St. Joseph Cemetery in Houston.
