Dorothy Pauline Winter, 94, passed away March 28, 2018. She was born on December 16, 1923 to Ethel and Sherwood Adams. She graduated from Houston’s Milby High School in 1941. On May 31, 1941, she married Siegfried Winter and they established their home in Houston, Texas. They had five beautiful daughters. As her children grew, Dorothy was a co-leader in Girl Scouts and taught Sunday school at Temple Methodist Church. Dorothy worked as a cashier/trainer at Weingarten’s Grocery Store for 10 years. In their retirement years, Dorothy and Sieg loved to travel and took pride in showing roses from their beautiful rose garden. She was a long-time Houston Rose Society member and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Pasadena. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Siegfried Winter. Dorothy is survived by her five daughters and their husbands: Lucy Lonneberg Schmidt and Nick Schmidt; Deanna and Earl Krause; Darlene and Robert W. Hanula; Gloria and Clay Hinton; and Robin and Britt Tooke. She is further survived by her sister Barbara Jordan, her brother Bobby Adams, and her sister-in-law Rose Marie Vogt. Dorothy took great delight in her 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Ave., Houston, TX 77023. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 with burial to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
