

Edward J. Cornicelli, age 92, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017. He was born January 20, 1925 in Schenectady, New York. In 1947, he married the love of his life, Martha Morath. They were blessed with one son, Keith, who predeased them. Ed was employed by General Electric and in 1984 was transferred to Houston. After 41 years of service, he sought the good life of retirement. However, He never fully retired, for he and Martha became active members of St. Theresa Catholic Church, and for over 50 years, devoted many hours of service to the parish. One of Ed’s proudest accomplishments was the restoration of the crucifix which still hangs above the tabernacle in the church. Ed was also a WWII veteran who fought in Burma and served in China and India. Survived by sister, Helen McGrane; brother, Frank Cornicelli; nieces, Kathy Streuel and husband Wes and Maria Markenson and husband Glenn; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd., Houston, Texas 77092, with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ed wished contributions to be made to The Monastery of Infant Jesus Nuns, 1501 Lotus Lane, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
