I will never forget The Busa Family.  Tony Busa was my meat manager at Weingarten's and I loved the man.  I visited his home many times.  I use to drop off Joan and Leonard at their home because we all worked at the same store.  After Tony passed away, I would call Mrs. Busa and we would talk about our jobs.  I use to see her at the Weingarten's reunions.  Mr. & Mrs. Busa were great parents and rightfully so, they were Polish!  Thinking of all of you.  May your memories of both of them help you through this difficult time.

Elizabeth Busa was a dear friend, neighbor, caretaker, listener, conversationalist, and just an absolute blessing to four generations of my family that lived across the street from her. There were my parents Sandra and Al Conner, my brother Rod & I, my great Uncle Frank (whom Elizabeth cooked a separate meal for every night after my Aunt Opal died), Aunt Opal and John Henry, my husband Alan and I, and then our daughter Nicole. We all loved our visits with Elizabeth and her beautiful family as well. We are all blessed to have known her. She was an extremely special person and touched all our lives.

I remember the woman who became also my Grandma really well, and she has always been with us with her flowers painting that we can see every day in our kitchen. Elizabeth, the first name of your momma that you offered to your daughter also reminds me of her as I often fondly call my wife, Elizabeth. I was lucky to meet Grandma while she was still living in her house, so I got the opportunity to know the universe of a great and long part of her life as well as yours. It means a lot for me because I have always thought that our ancestors are part of what we are. One of my memories with her is when Lizzy and I we took her to Luby's! I am sure it can make you smile if you think of the taste of the food, but the most important for me it's the mood she was in while with us that day. she was truly happy to share this rare moment with just the two of us. She gave me love from the very first moment with real european kisses on the cheek and loving hugs. I remember that Christmas when I proposed to Lizzy and we were with your family at the Wesolick home and she personally congratulated me making me feel part of her family, like I also belong to you, that was very kind. When she moved to Houston and we visited her, she was proud to show us she was still painting but she was also always asking how we were doing back home here in France. After my Abuela passed early this year, I felt sad, and made me think about family, the distance between us. I got pneumonia and you guys were worried for me and prayed for me as Grandma did. And then our trip to the US in April gave me a lot of positive vibes and I was so glad for Lizzy, for you, for me to share all these good family times. We spent Easter together at your house, I helped Grandma to get out of the car and I ignored that is was going to be the last time I would see her, but I saw her happy even if she was in pain because of her health. She was with her own people that day, never alone. If you are now a grandmother yourself, she was a great-grandmother as well, and I know Maure is sad she didn't get the chance to introduce her to Grace Elizabeth, but whatever the distance I am sure Grandma had also a lot of love for this wonderful half scottish baby girl. The circle of life, with birth and death, we all deal with it,we all have to accept her time to go has come, it is always too soon but we also know it is a relief for her and she will surely be better from now. Time will heal your wound and relieve your pain. She will be missed, and my thoughts go to you Ron, I imagine how you miss Lizzy and Maure as well, to your sisters Aunt Retta and Aunt Joan but also to your own children, especially your girls who will give anything to hug you right now and let you know how much they love you. Last night I woke up to look at the Moon eclipse, an accelerated circle starting with a bright Moon slowly shadowed and then it disappeared for a little while, became red and the shadow covering it faded to let it become bigger and bright again. I hope your diminished joy will become soon bright again.

 I am joyful that aunt Elizabeth did not linger and the Lord called her quickly. She was quite the lady. She was simple and modest. I think about how brave she was to come from the country to the big city. Your mom and dad took Geralyn & I downtown Houston to get our wisdom teeth cut out. She took mom and dad to Astroworld and to Lake Sam Rayburn. She let me live there and I rode the bus to work. Many times she would pack my lunch or even meet me at the corner. She only asked me to pay $40 dollars for rent. She was so brave and such a hard worker and a giving person. I'm sure she is sitting at Jesus' feet painting pictures for Him with colors she never existed. Her body will be placed in the ground, but her soul will live on for eternity as well as our memories of her. She had a hard life, but always put others before herself. I can hear the Lord say, Welcome home my daughter, Elizabeth! You will miss her! I pray that the Comforter will come to you and the family and impart His peace, the peace beyond all of our understanding. I love you so much! Go with God always!!!

Dear Grandma Busa,

My oldest memory of you is when we came and stayed at your house during hurricane Alicia. I still remember watching that tree in your yard falling over. Since then my memories there of you in that house were always so loving to me. I can't even remember a single time even as a child ever being yelled at by you. I am not saying that it never happened because I know I was a difficult child, but I don't remember a thing. You have never been forceful, grumpy, or ill-tempered around me. I have only seen affection and the love of a grandma from you. Along with the unconditional love, of course, always came the good food and lots of money at every Christmas.

I am so glad I got to know you as an adult, and got to really understand where you came from. I loved to hear about your stories of when you were a child, with no electricity, the long hours on the farm picking cotton, and being a part of a fully self-sufficient family. It makes me so proud that we have come so far from such hard beginnings. But they were not difficult to you, they were just your memories of your childhood. This was a young woman that was far from the Grandma Busa I knew growing up, which I mostly associated with delicious food, warm hugs, and kisses. Thank you for sharing your memories with me.

I am so happy I got to say a proper good-bye to you. I am sorry that you couldn't make my wedding, but please don't worry about it. You gave the most powerful blessing to me and Sahiti which I will never forget. I felt so much grace around you in the room that night. I love you so very much, and I am forever grateful for you.

Elizabeth and Tony were a bonus to me when I married there son David. She was the BEST cook that I have ever met. She kept with her Polish traditions when she prepared Sunday dinner for all her family and friends. She was a fantastic oil painting artist and she also taught painting classes at All Saints in the Heights Seniors program. She made beautiful crystal Rosaries as gifts for family and friends She LOVED everyone in her own way. My son and grandchildren will miss her present during the holidays. I am so excited for her that she is being reunited with her mother grandma Uilkie, husband Tony, son David, her brother Bernard and sister Margaret. God Bless her and may she be at Peace with the Lord.

My Grandma was an amazingly strong woman. She loved life, adored family and was an inspiration because of her faith in God. She never judged or complained only loved. She saw the beauty in everyone. I miss my grandma more than anything. The thought of not hugging her, seeing her smile, hearing her voice and holding her hand weighs heavy on my heart, but I know she is standing next to our Heavenly Father watching down as she is an Angel of Peace and Strength gracing us all with her blessings. I love you My Grandma My Love. Forever you will be in my heart. I will be looking for you at the entrance of Heaven when that time comes.
