

Ellen Jane Deason, born September 30, 1922 to John and Olga Schenck in Duluth, Minnesota, passed away December 9, 2010 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Deason was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dan; first husband, Eben Whitney Chaffee; second husband, Elmer Eugene Deason, and a daughter, Katherine Lela Deason. Ellen Jane is survived by her son, John V. Chaffee and his partner, Judy Richardson; daughters, Doris Elaine Park and husband, Steve “Max” Maxon, Judith Ojard, Barbara Jane Chaffee and fiancé, Lev Fisher, and Marilyn Zornado and husband, Alan Garren; grandchildren, Patrick Ojard, Mickey Borkin, Catherine Vail, and Jack Chaffee; great-grandchildren, Glenn and Eddie Ojard, Savannah and Mikayla Borkin, Isaac and Elias Vail, and Hannah and Lily Chaffee; siblings, Paul and Marguerite; close friend, Janet Fisher, and numerous other family and friends.
A child of the Great Depression, Ellen Jane beheld the world with a sense of joy and wonder. She lived according to her father’s example, always showing kindness to those less fortunate, and sharing whatever she had.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at Heights Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church, 1245 Heights Boulevard, Houston, Texas. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Zion Hill Cemetery, Henderson, Texas.
