Elmer "Grandpa" "Datty" Phillips

Earle was born on July 21, 1916. He retired from John Moore Plumbing after many long years of dedicated service. He was a Mason for over 50 years at Reagan Masonic Lodge #1037, A.F. & A.M..

Elmer is survived by his wife, Evelyn Phillips; step-children, Edwin and Penny Van Winkle, Rodney Van Winkle, Calvin and Wendy Van Winkle, Clint and Debbie Van Winkle; son-in-law, Bill Lazenby; grandson, Keith Lazenby; great grandchildren, Lauren and Anna, as well as many other step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Phillips, and his daughter, Jane Lazenby.

Elmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will always be remembered for his great humor and caring spirit.

The family received friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3rd at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services were held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m., with on Friday, May 4th, with Reverend Dan Slagle officiating. Graveside services and interment followed at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
