Elzenia Bowers was born May 11, 1929 in Le Moyen, LA to the parentage of the late Orville and Camille Roy. Elzenia attended public school in the Le Moyen Parish School System, where she excelled in all of her classes. Her favorite subjects were choir, reading and homemaking. Elzenia was married for 51 years to the late Leo Bowers, Sr., until his death on January 14, 1996, and to this union four children were born; Brenda, Linda, Leo Jr., Rick. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a caregiver to whomever she met along the way. Her majestic smile and encouraging words were a source of inspiration to her church family. After diligently searching for spiritual fulfillment, she found herself at home with St. Stephen Baptist Church congregation. Some of her many interests included sewing, cooking, fashion, and decorating her home.
