Activities
Growing up, Enric was active. He enjoyed playing with his hot wheels, but soon picked up skateboarding and even breakdancing for a bit.
As he grew, Enric became a fan of museums. He visited the Menil and the Museum of Fine Arts many times over and knew everything about the artists and their stories. He especially enjoyed Jackson Pollock works. He received his first painting, A Starry Night, from his sister’s trip to Amsterdam. This influenced his love for art and his becoming an artist himself. He had several projects ranging from abstract paintings, mixed media creations, stenciling, and color pencil/marker work. He took inspiration from many places to create his paintings.
Another great passion of Enric’s was golfing. He spent much time at the Gus Wortham golf course where he volunteered, then worked for some time. As a gift from his mother, he attended the Shell Houston Open, and it became a yearly tradition with his dad. Other traditions include his excitement for fireworks where he would, like clockwork, shoot with his dad during holidays. Similar to fireworks, Enric always enjoyed building model rockets. He’d travel to the fields and watch his rockets shoot through the sky. As a child he started with the small ones, but as he grew, so did the rockets with some as big as four feet.
Day to day Enric was deeply interested in the news and current events. He followed PBS, CNN, NPR, and Bloomberg to inform himself and to keep everyone on top of their daily news. He was just as much an avid learner of history and science and would be so excited to talk about the new facts he learned or stories of the biographies he discovered with those near him. His well rounded knowledge would often lead to bright new ideas and his sketching them out in his journal.
Enric would often spend time listening to music, experiencing all that was offered, ranging from Alternative and Indie to Rap and Hip-Hop, even enjoying many classics. He loved his dog Nala, named after the Lion King, spending his days relaxing together, listening to music, sitting on the front porch.
