Erma Lee Johnson, affectionately known as Nanny, was the living survivor of a twin born to the late Rev. C. D. Dixon and Elnora Randall Dixon on November 8, 1924 in Houston, TX. After the passing of her mother, she was later raised by her father and his wife, Velma D. Dixon. She attended the Houston Independent School District public schools graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. She married L.J. Johnson and they raised 5 children. She was baptized by her father and served under his leadership at Greater Mount Pillow Missionary Baptist Church / Community of Faith (COF, Bishop James W. E. Dixon, II). Her love for giving, singing, ushering and missionary outreach ministry were just a few of her many accomplishment on her 88 years Christian journey. She was a faithful servant known for her willingness and desire to serve God and anyone in need. She loved the Lord and her Bishop. She will always be fondly remembered for her antics. Whenever the Holy Spirit moved her she would throw a piece of paper, a shoe, a purse, whatever was around and sometimes even her Bible. She would yell, "PREACH!!" On her sick bed at the nursing homes, the deacons would take her communion. Before they left, she would ask, "How was church today?" She would ask questions about specific members and get updates on everything. Of course, she wanted to know how Bishop was doing. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend C. D. Dixon, Elnora Randall Dixon, and step-mom Velma D. Montgomery Dixon, 3 brothers C. D.
