Eulogia Alderete Cervantes passed from this life on to her reward on Monday, September 6, 2021. “Lolla,” or “Lodie,” as her family and friends called her, was born in Missouri City, Texas on March 11, 1926. She was the last remaining child of Francisco Alderete and Concepcion Figueroa Alderete. As a child she moved to Houston where she went to school, married and raised her children. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School and was married to David Cervantes. Although Eulogia was a member of Juan Marcus Presbyterian Church once she moved to the Clear Lake area she sometimes attended Clear Lake Methodist Church. She was devoted to God, her family, and church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Manuela Coronado, Eduwigis Coronado, and brothers Santos (Sam), Eustacio (Tacho), and Porfirio (Pilo) Alderete. She was also preceded in death by daughter Judy Aviles and granddaughter Victoria Cervantes. She is survived by her: Husband David Cervantes; daughter Jean Cervantes and wife Mara of Clearlake; son David Eric Cervantes and wife Cassie of Crockett; grandson Mario Anthony Aviles, and wife Amanda of Houston; grandson David James Cervantes, and wife Kaitlyn of Houston; and grandson Eric “Teddy” Cervantes, and granddaughter Julianna Cervantes.
Lodie made many friends in the Clear Lake area through her participation in the Gathering Place, sponsored by CarePartners, which works with faith based organizations. She always had a smile on her face and was “game on” for any of the planned activities. After each gathering she would go home and talk about the activities, who attended, and what was served to eat. The various craft projects always made their way home and many were placed on display.
There are too many people to name who helped in the last few weeks of Lodie’s illness, especially Madolyn M. and Laura N. The family extends our profound thanks to these ladies and to the many, many people who offered prayers and support. We also wish to thank the hospice team at Compassus.
A viewing will be held at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd. on September 16th at 10 am with services lead by Dr. Paul Clines of Clear Lake Methodist Church at 11am. Following the services there will be a procession to Forest Park Cemetery Lawndale with burial scheduled for 1pm.
Although in life Lodie loved flowers in lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Clear Lake Methodist Church and noted in memorial for her and for the Gathering Place.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.heightsfuneralhome.com for the Cervantes family.
