Felipe Jesus Meza

Felipe Jesus Meza, 92, was born on February 5, 1929, in Galveston, Texas and passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021. Marie and Felipe Meza met during her high school year of 1947. They were married on September 23, 1950. Their family began with their four children, Virginia, Rick, George, and Estela, followed by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with two more currently on the way.

Felipe was a hardworking man and was a great provider for his family and a real self-taught, fix-it man. Although he was not able to “fix” his illness, he proved to be resilient in his fight for life. As a family, we celebrate his full life with sadness and joyful thoughts that he has now joined his wife, Marie, who passed away on December 16, 2006, after 56 years of marriage.

Felipe loved spending time with his brothers and sisters. Coming from a family of thirteen children, they shared a lot of love, a lot of tears, and a lot of laughter over the years, even through tough times. He taught us that is what a family does.

Felipe also enjoyed music and enjoyed going to Tejano concerts and dances. As we mourn his presence on earth, he and his wife are celebrating a joyous reunion in heaven. Many family members have reminded us of their shared memories of the music always playing in the Meza household. May Felipe and Marie be dancing in heaven with all the grace they always had on the dance floor.

Felipe is survived by his four children and their spouses Virginia and Joe Rios, Rick and Alicia Meza, George and Teresa Meza, and Estela and Marvin Mohn; grandchildren Stephen and Carol Leal, Christopher Meza, Rickey and Kellie Meza, Lissa Meza, Jason Mohn and fiancé Kylie Fuqua, and Annemarie Mohn; great-grandchildren Lara and Zach Leal, Lukas Meza, and Kaelyn Meza.

Out of respect for all those attending the visitation and funeral services, the immediate family is requiring face coverings for everyone entering the funeral Chapel. Also, out of an abundance of caution, a reception will not be held after services are concluded.
