

Frank G. Weeden, Jr. was born on Friday, September 23, 1927 in Sugar Land, Texas, the son of Frank G. Weeden, Sr. and Beatrice Crowson Weeden. He passed from this life on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Houston, Texas at the age of 86.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Hurd Weeden; son, Michael Weeden and wife Candy; daughter, Susan Dulaney and companion Rico Morales; grandson, Raymond M. Summerlin, Jr. and wife Sarah; grandson, Matthew Dulaney; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Dulaney Rehkop and husband Ryan Rehkop; granddaughter, Shannon Dulaney; great-grandson, Kian Rehkop. Frank is also survived by his brother, Donald Courtney, his sister, Marilyn Weeden; numerous other loving relatives and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Doctor Kenneth Weeden.
Frank and his family moved from Sugar Land to the Heights area of Houston where Frank and his siblings grew up. He attended Harvard Elementary, Hogg Junior High and graduated from Reagan Senior High in 1947. He then attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX but had to drop out after a serious motorcycle accident caused him to break his leg. Frank later enrolled at the University of Houston where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1956.
During high school, Frank met the love of his life, Betty Hurd. The two were married on April 14, 1951. Frank was also very successful in business. After he graduated, he worked for Schlumberger and John Doe Ray Corporation before founding his own engineering firm, Weeden Engineering, in 1969.
Additionally, Frank was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was happiest in the woods with his friends and family. He was a very accomplished deer hunter with both gun and bow.
Both Frank and Betty have been very active in the church all of their adult lives. When they were first married, the couple joined a Sunday school class called The Voyagers while attending St. Mark’s Methodist in the Heights. Frank and Betty have remained friends with these wonderful people throughout the years.
Above all, Frank loved spending time with his beloved wife, Betty. He was utterly devoted to her for the entire 63 years of their marriage.
Family and friends gathered and shared memories at a visitation from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston. A celebration of Frank's life began at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in the sanctuary of Terrace United Methodist Church, 1203 Wirt Road with Pastors Nancy Creason and Tammy Heinrich officiating. Following a brief reception in the Fellowship Hall, graveside services and interment concluded at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine, also in Houston.
