Frankie Sue Evans Kennon was born in Madisonville, Texas on July 3, 1923 to Frank Douglas Evans and Bada Eakins Evans. She graduated from Madisonville High School in 1942. She left Madisonville and came to Houston where she attended business school. She met Crockett Elliott Kennon and after only a few months of dating, they married on October 26, 1946. She was a housewife and mother to her four children, Annette Sue Kennon Wiseman (Don) of Madisonville, Texas; Renee LaRue Kennon Garner (Harold) of LaPorte, Texas; Nancy Kay Kennon Brown of Deer Park, Texas; and Donald Elliott Kennon of Spring, Texas.
After having four children, Sue decided to continue her education and completed her degree at the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in history with a teacher's certificate for the State of Texas in 1960. She began her teaching career at San Jacinto High School in Houston, teaching American History. She later transferred to Ross Sterling High School teaching history. After receiving her Masters of Education and her Counselor's Certification, she became the Counselor for Sterling High School. She retired in 1985.
As retirees, she and Crockett enjoyed traveling all over the United States including Hawaii, parts of Canada and Europe. They also enjoyed their small farm in Madisonville, Texas where they gardened and relaxed. Sue was a member of the South Main Baptist Church of Pasadena and the Mavericks Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She and Crockett attended many events and functions associated with the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Shriners that they were involved with. She enjoyed her many trips across the country with her friends and family members.
More than anything, she enjoyed her grandchildren, John Garner, Kim Brown Wood, Julie Colwell, Cathy Garner Rangel, Wendy Brown, and Samantha Kennon and bonus grandchildren Tammy Wiseman Reid and Cary Wiseman as well as her loving great-grandchildren. She was always on the go and ready to go especially after becoming a widow in 2005.
Frankie Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Crockett Elliott Kennon, her parents, Frank and Bada Evans, her siblings, Christeen Evans Andrews, Cecil Evans, Berta Evans Barricklow, Louise Evans, and Jamie Evans Young. Her survivors include her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren mentioned above as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for Sue are John Garner, Justin Wood, David Gray, Glenn Gregory, Brad Blair and Omar Felipe.
