Born on January 16, 1977, in Houston, Texas, Gerardo lived his 48 years with an extraordinary love for life, family, friends and his job. He touched those around him and those that had no idea that he had been a part of their lives. His life was a testament to the power of living fearlessly and loving deeply.
Beloved son, brother, and uncle; Gerardo was the cherished son of Miguel J. and Beatrice G. Ramirez, and the beloved brother of Frank, Ruben, Sylvia, Steve and Gerome. He was a proud and devoted uncle to many nephews and nieces taking great joy in watching them grow and begin their life journey.
A foundation built on excellence, Gerardo’s journey began in Houston, where his inquisitive nature and determined spirit shined brightly from an early age. He was also a proud graduate of Furr High School. He was then awarded a scholarship from the Houston Oilers, and used it to continue his pursuit of knowledge at the University of Houston, where he later earned his degree in Education. He later obtained a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Tx.
Gerardo’s professional journey reflected his love for education. He began his career in the Galena Park ISD, and later moved to Dickinson ISD. Gerardo quickly returned to Galena Park ISD, where he went on to become Program Director of Student Assessment, and worked till his last days making sure things would be ready for testing.
Living life to the fullest above all else! Gerardo treasured his family, dedicating himself to supporting and caring for those he loved most, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
A native Houstonian, his loyalty ran deep and he was an unwavering fan of the Astros, Rockets, and Texans. Gerardo was also a big fan of the local high school team the North Shore Mustangs and of course his University Houston Cougars.
Above all else Gerardo’s love of family, friends, and the students of Galena Park ISD drove him to become a better person and the man he became.
