

Gregory James Owens was born on December 14, 1955 in Franklin, Louisiana to Violet Owens and James E. Wallace Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Corinth Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He was educated in the St. Mary Parish School System in Louisiana and was graduated with academic honors from the 1973 Class of Franklin Sr. High School in Franklin, Louisiana. Upon graduation, Greg received academic Scholarship offers to attend either Boston University or Tulane University. He chose to matriculate at Boston University and later transferred to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in Microbiology. He was employed by Tenneco Oil and Gas Exploration Company, General Electric Pipeline Integrity and later went on to obtain a real estate license and became a Real Estate Agent. He joined Brentwood Baptist Church in 1992. While a member there, he was a member of the AIDS Ministry, Male Chorus, Church Choir and Chorale. He was an organ Donor and his organs were donated and life was given to 2 individuals in need of a miracle. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents: George and Melba Owens and a Cousin: Horatio Blanco. Greg leaves to cherish his memories: his mother: Violet Owens Thompson of Franklin, Louisiana; his life partner of 30 years: Dr. Larry Butcher of Sugar Land, Texas; two Brothers: Benjamin (Trudy) Harris of Sugar Land, Texas and David C. Thompson of Franklin, Louisiana; one Aunt and Godmother: Audrey Jean (James) Armelin, Jr. of Baldwin, Louisiana; one Uncle: Ronald (Marlene) Owens of Centerville, Louisiana; three Nieces: Nicole (Troy) Robinson) of Baton Rouge Louisiana, Leah and Bevin Harris of Houston, Texas; one Nephew: Benjamin Harris II of Belmont, California; one Great-Nephew: Trey Robinson and one Great-Niece: Jordyn Robinson both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; stepfather: Charles Thompson, Jr. of Franklin, Louisiana; a Cousin/Brother: Tommy Manuel Sr. of Thibodaux, Louisiana; a Half-Sister: Francella Wallace of Lafayette, Louisiana and a host of beloved Cousins, Family and Friends.
