Guillermo ( Memo ) Colunga Cerda, age 83, passed away November 20, 2019 in Houston, Texas, by natural causes. He was born October 6, 1936 and survived by his spouse, Melida Lourdes Garza Cerda; his children: Antonio Cerda, Alicia Gutierrez, Beatrice Cerda, Nora Bernal and her husband Andrew Bernal; and his siblings: Estefana Pimentel and Tomasa DeLeon. He was born in Rodriguez, Nuevo León and lived in Houston, Texas. He worked as a structural fitter.
In 1956, he came to the United States, as most do, to have a better life, and he fulfilled his dream. In 1960, He married his wife, Lourdes, and brought her to live in Corpus Christi, Texas. He and his wife became naturalized citizens on October 17, 1996. Guillermo was a hard worker, an excellent provider, and a loving father. He was the pillar who provided support to his family. For the select few that knew him well, the most memorable part about him was his laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicolasa Colunga Cerda and Francisco Cerda; and his siblings Arquilio Cerda, Petra Reyes, Lucinda Salazar, and Juan Cerda.
