Harriet Maud Baron

Harriet was born to Walter W. Bennet and Rachael Mae McCullogh on April 13, 1922 in the Township of Ash Creek, Ellsworth County, Kansas. She attended Mud Creek grade school, Ellsworth Junior High and graduated from Wichita North High School in 1940. Harriet received an RN degree in August of 1943 from the Wichita Hospital School of Nursing, run by the Sisters of Charity.

Harriet married William Thomas Baron in May of 1944. The loving couple lived in Miami, FL, and Oakland, CA, and finally settled in Houston, TX in 1952. Together they raised 3 children.

Harriet is survived by Robert (Son) and Patricia L. Baron, Jennifer (Daughter) and Damon Leaming, Patricia G. Baron (Daughter-in-Law), David (Grandson) and Darcey Baron, Will (Grandson) and Angela Baron, Joseph (Grandson) Leaming, Great Grandchildren Jordan, Whitney, William (Bill), and Meredith Baron, Step-Grandson Lawrence Best, Step-Great Granddaughter Kiera Best, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by William T. Baron (Husband), William J. Baron (Son), and Christopher Leaming (Grandson).

Harriet worked as a Registered Nurse for a short time at Victoria Hospital in Miami, and for over 20 years at Herman Hospital in Houston. She and her husband traveled extensively in Europe and Mexico and cruised Alaska. She was an avid crocheter and made Afgans for many family members and friends to share her warm and loving spirit.

A Funeral Service for Harriet is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. Visitation for Family at 10:00 AM, Friends at 11:00 AM, and Service at 12:00 PM followed by interment.
