

Hedwig Beatrice Zezula Prokop (Hedy), of Trinity TX, / formerly of Houston, TX. died surrounded by her family. She was 83 years old.Hedy is survived by her husband Benjamin Prokop the love of her life. Children, Andrew and wife Melanie, Christopher and wife Cindy, Patricia Cooper (deceased) and husband Jack Cooper, Patrick and wife Carol, and Carol Ann Poston and husband David Poston and her twelve grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Samantha, Rachel, Charles, Benjamin, Jason, Bailey, Nicholas, Trenton, Emma and Samuel. Sisters Edith Yanta (d ), Leona Janesek (d), Helen Bryan (93), Geneva Yeary (d) Mary Weise (89) and brother Jerome (d).She was born to Petronela and Doslav Zezula in Runge, Texas to humble beginnings. She was part of a traditional tight knit Czech family. Her early schooling was at Bridger School in Karnes County, TX. and upon graduation she went to Texas A&I in Kingsville TX. and obtained a bachelors degree in education. Her first job was in the Galena Park TX. School District as a first grade teacher. Hedy met Ben through a Catholic Organization called the Rosarians and they were married on July 5, 1957. Soon after they started their family. Hedy set about teaching her children about religious faith, compassion, hard work, and un-conditional love. Her surviving children, and grandchildren remember her as a beautiful woman who was driven, brilliant and a patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals but at same time would definitely let you know when you were headed astray. She was not afraid of what others thought and would always tell you what was on her mind good or bad.Hedy and Ben retired in the Trinity TX area in 1998, she was involved various activities in the area. Hedy was a Super Catholic who loved the Lord with all of her Heart and Soul. She was an active and dedicated member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she was very active in the Ladies Guild. Prior she was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Houston, TX. Hedy loved to travel with her family. Hedy and Ben especially enjoyed embarking on cruises and travel throughout the world.Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77060 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2015 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 401 Prospect Dr., Trinity, Texas 75862 with a luncheon to follow. Rite of Committal will be 2:30 p.m., the same day, at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.
