Irene “Nene” Gonzalez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 25, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on August 26, 1944, in Monterrey, Mexico, she was the cherished daughter of Angelina (†) and Aniceto Morales (†). Irene was the second of seven siblings: Socorro Coronado (†), Luis Morales, Teresa Mier Morales (†), Javier Morales, Angelina “Chera” Morales, and Aniceto “Tato” Morales (†).

A long-time resident of Houston, Texas, Irene was devoted to her family as a stay-at-home mother, raising her children with love and dedication. She was a strong-willed woman, passionate about cooking, especially traditional Thanksgiving meals, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. One of her proudest moments was becoming a U.S. citizen, a milestone she worked hard to achieve.

Known lovingly as "Madrina," Irene embraced her role as a Godmother with joy. Her strength, love, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Irene is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Ildefonso “Poncho” Gonzalez, and their children: Juan Ildefonso (Significant Other Monica), Ernesto (wife Valerie), and Marla Edith Sais (husband Danny). She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Jennifer Rachelle, Manuel Ildefonso (wife Uyen “Cheena”), Matthew Gabriel, Jesse Adrian, Rebecca Ayn, Jonathan Rene (wife Ashley), Michael David, Diego Ernesto, Ruben (wife) Ashley, Julian (wife Jessina), Alex (wife Melissa) and Isaac. Irene was blessed with great-grandchildren, including Arriana, Arian, Patrick, Baby Alex (†), Tessa, Makena, Angel, Olive, Myles, Elijah, Luna and Julian III who will forever remain in their hearts.

Irene’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy found in family traditions. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and enduring love.
