

Sister Jacqueline D. Kidd brought life and love to all who knew her. She was born July 25, 1958 as the middle child in the marriage of Gloria D. Steptoe Wheatfall and Osceola Wheatfall Jr. in Houston, Texas and was raised in the Baptist faith. She grew to be a resilient young lady, strong in character and grit. Later in life she accepted the fact that James Henry “Shot” Brown was her biological father in which she had no problem sharing the love she felt. With her grand heart, she loved them both dearly. Jacqueline attended Brock Elementary School and Abraham Lincoln Jr./Sr. High. She later received her G.E.D. and decided to further her education at the Shirley Baker School of Court Reporting. She was an avid learner who loved reading and writing in her spare time. She later expanded her professional career and became a Level III Licensed Commissioned Security Officer. She was blessed to work at various sites throughout her security career. She most enjoyed her time with the Port of Houston where she began as a gate guard and was later promoted to Camera Surveillance Officer. She maintained this position until her health became challenged. Jackie considered her relationship with God as her most rewarding accomplishment. Next to this honor, a doting grand & great-grandmother, cook, sitter, mentor, and loving mother. She took pride in instilling into her children the value of education and being productive citizens. Most importantly, she instructed each to first, seek God’s Kingdom and all other things would be added. Jackie confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. W.E. Gibbs. Later, she grew in the word under the leadership of Bishop H.L. Galloway and as she progressed through life and by God’s leading, joined with S.T.R.O.N.G. Life Ministries Church where Bishop Thomas E. Ray was Pastor. At this time, she continued to develop her relationship and winning walk with the Lord. A natural giver and powerful prayer warrior, she enthusiastically enjoyed serving in ministry and her family. Jackie departed this life on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, not losing a battle but gaining eternal Victory through Christ Jesus!! She was proceeded in death by her parents, Gloria D. Wheatfall, Osceola Wheatfall Jr., and James Henry Brown. She married twice and leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Marcus W. Ray, two daughters, Yamasheta Y. Ray, and Joy R.D. Kidd, 11 grandchildren who affectionately called her “Granny”(Chassity, Marcus Jacoby, Alexis, Zsacoya, Jordan, Jacqueline, Jarrie, Isaiah, Aniya, Josiah, & Londyn), with one additional grandchild on the way, and 8 great-grandchildren (Marcus Jacoby III, Lailah, Hazhen, Khloe, Jia’vanni, King, Avallynn, and Aaven), as well as a host of siblings, god-siblings, family, friends, and other adopted loved ones.
