

James Doyle Jr. was born on June 17, 1944 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to the union of James and Hilda Doyle. At an early age, James and his family relocated to Houston, TX. He attended Phillis Wheatley High School and graduated in 1962. Upon graduation, James joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1962 to 1966 as a Sergeant E-5 during the Vietnam War. After leaving the military, he enjoyed a 40 -year career at Port Terminal Railroad as a locomotive engineer. He also attended Houston Community College and obtained his barber license. From there he went on to own Community Barber Shop and become the President of Doyle’s Enterprises Catering Business. During his life enjoyed the great outdoors. His hobbies included farming, horseback riding, and spending time with his dog Bruno. He also served as a deacon at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, and was a servant of God at New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX. On May 7, 2019, James departed this life peacefully to be with the Lord. He was surrounded by his loving family as he took his last breath. James was preceded in death by his parents James and Hilda Doyle Sr; and his sister Linda Doyle. He leaves to rejoice in his memory; his loving wife, Glenda Doyle; five sons, James, Eric (Shirley), Aljy, Errol (Tina), and Derrick; daughter, Dr. Sonceria Doyle-Roper; honorary children, Candance Neal, Tomarsha Neal, and LaKeisha Neal: one brother, Walter Snell (Sherry); two sisters, Laverne Richardson and Debra Davis (Claude); one godson, Daniel Thomas; nineteen grand-children, seven great grand-children, and a host of nieces and nephews.
