

James Cline Dunn was born on March 21, 1920 in Tyler, Texas to William and Rachel Sloan Dunn. The WWII veteran peacefully passed away July 4, 2018. He is preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Yvonne Lonsford Dunn.
James married the love of his life in 1941. The two married in Albuquerque, NM before he went off to war. He proudly served in the 13th Air Force in the South Pacific in World War II. After James returned from war, he and Yvonne were able to start their life together. Their family was complete after welcoming their son, James “Skip” Dunn. He went on to work at Shell Oil for some time. After his retirement, James and his brothers started a company Gulf States Abrasives.
James and Yvonne called Porter, TX home for over 50 years. It was hard to think about one of them without thinking of the other. They were soulmates. Their love for God and their family was evident in the way they lived and treated others. James and Yvonne were loved deeply by family and friends. One of their greatest loves were their three grandsons.
The boys cherished their time with Grandpa and James savored every moment spent with them. His wisdom, humor, and love formed an undeniable bond.
James is preceded in death by his parents William and Rachel Dunn and Step-Mother Mary Alice Dunn, three brothers Charles, Thurman and Marcus Dunn, three sisters Claudia Owen, Billie June McKee and Jeanette Hearne and a baby daughter Beverly Jean Dunn. He is survived by his son James (Skip) Dunn and wife Pat, whom he loved deeply and was in charge of his care. He is also survived by his brother Freeman Dunn, wife Nadine, sister Mary Anne Carroll, brother-in-law Joe Lonsford, wife Jane, and sister-in-laws Sister in laws Mary Dunn, Bea Dunn and LouAnn Dunn. Grandsons include Jason (Brandi) Dunn, Adam (Rachel) Dunn, and Brian (Stormee) Dunn. Great-grandchildren are Baylee, Jake, Brady, Casey, Mackenzie, Elizabeth, Logan, and Kash Dunn. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 1-1:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with a Graveside Service beginning at 1:30 PM with Military Honors at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Interment will follow.
