Jim was my friend and colleague at the Seafarers Center.  His training and guidance served me well as a chaplain.  I will miss his strong singing voice and his calm strong presence.  Rest with the Angels Jim.

Jim was a Chaplain for the Episcopal Church from 1972 to 2002 at the Houston International Seafarers Center.   He worked as a wonderful partner with Roman Catholic   Presbyterian, Methodist, and Lutheran Chaplains.  Seafarers were blessed by Jim's many years of loving service.  We will all miss him.

What a wonderful tribute offered by Chaplain Marshal Bundren who had the privilege of working alongside Fr. Jim prior to Jim’s retirement!  I had the privilege of walking in Jim’s footsteps after his retirement!  What an amazing legacy of seafarers’ ministry Fr. Jim left for me and all those with whom he worked!  It was a joy to get to know Jim and Carol as they continued to participate in special events at the Seafarers’ Center!  We had such fun swapping stories of a ministry we both loved!

Stephen and Laura,

May God bless you with a peculiar and palpable sense of His comfort as you process the loss of your precious father. Fr. Jim made such a remarkable difference in the lives of seafarers from around the world during his tenure at the Houston International Seafarers Center. His contributions to the mission and direction of that institution cannot be overstated. His partnership with your mother in all aspects of his priesthood was simply remarkable. They were a major influence in the personal formation of that weird Baptist boy from Indiana as he worked alongside them in maritime chaplaincy during the winters when he was frozen off the Great Lakes. I will forever hold the precious memories of your parents and those days dear to my heart.
