

Jessie Nell Wilson, was born January 7, 1926, to her parents Ephraim, and Nannie Moham in Grand Cane, Louisiana. She was the third of eight children born to this union. Jessie was affectionately known to her family as “Big MaMa.” She attended Flower Hill School in Keatchie, Louisiana. At an early age, Jessie confessed Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, under the leadership of of Pastor W. M. Tyler in Gloster, Louisiana. In 1975, she united with the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Franklin D. Anderson, who is the current Pastor. She was a faithful member of the Pastor’s Aid, Mission Board, taught Sunday School and was the “Church Mother.” She also served as an Eastern Star. She met and began her courtship with the love of her life Porter Wilson. In 1941, they were united in Holy Matrimony and five children were born to this union: Lelia Ervin (Claudia Sr.), Porter Oliver, Barbara Davis, Charles Wilson (Brenda) and Shirley Wilson. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and being involved in church activities. Big MaMa was known for her sweet potato pies and chili beans. She loved people and never met a stranger. She was an employee of Glen Munder until she retired. She entered into rest on Saturday, April 1, 2017, in the comfort of her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ephriam and Nannie Moham; her husband, Porter Wilson; one sister, Annie Belle Rutherford; three brothers, Sidney, Curtis and Preston Moham; and one stepson Eddie Wilson. She leaves to mourn her memories and continue her legacy to her five children: Lelia Ervin (Claudia Sr.), Porter Oliver, Barbara Davis, Charles Wilson (Brenda) and Shirley Wilson; sisters, Eleanor Gaston (Fate), Carrie Roberts; one brother, William Moham; grandchildren Veronica Davis (Kelvin (Woo)), Gary Harkless, Claudia Ervin Jr., La’Rhonda Davis, Reginald Davis, Tammille Thomas, TaYonna Hudnall (Kevin), Lynetta Scurry (Kelvin), Cedric Wilson, JaCaria Wilson, Charles Johnson and BrandyWilson; 20 great grandchildren, 6 great–great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
