At a young age he immigrated to the United States to Greenville, Mississippi where he stayed with the O.C. Wong family. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1961.
After high school he attended Mississippi State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Business and Industry in Marketing.
From there Jim served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 with an honorable discharge.
After serving in the Army, Jim moved to Houston then The Woodlands while working for Enron. He retired in 2001.
All his life Jim enjoyed golf, fishing, and hunting.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Sheow Kwong Wong and Boo Gen Wong and his younger brother Gordon Wong.
He is survived by his siblings: Suzanne Woo (d. William) , Juanita Mei (William), and Leonard Wong (Jeanette).

Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews: Siena Mei, Leila Mei, Cannon Chiang, Clark Chiang, Caden Chiang, Kay Fortson, Eloise Fortson, Ian Mei, and Nora Mei.
A visitation for Jim will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A committal service will occur Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
