I don’t know what made me look up John, but I’m so truly sorry for the family and friend loss!!!
I took care of John’s travel arrangements for many years with Leisure Management Intl until 9/11 destroyed us all. 
This brings tears and great sorrow.

Jackie was an awesome guy. We went to school at San Ignacio and he was always a great friend and mentor. 
I had been trying to reconnect somehow when I landed on his unexpected passing, and to boot, right around my birthday. 
A special place in my heart as now I have two long time friends who had an impact in my life join our Lord. 
Until I see you again and knockoff a few cold ones, keep some for me.

I met John in the early 90's when we had the opportunity to work with the Florida Panthers' ownership on their new arena project. From the moment I met John, we connected. Funny, interesting, incredibly smart and great to be around. John introduced me to some of the best people in the sports business, many of whom I am still friends with today. I hadn't spoken to John in the past year, but I think of him often. He had a lasting impact on me and I so enjoyed being around him. May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends. Oh my gracious! To try to do justice in writing down memories with John Blaisdell is a tall task!!  And yet, it is entertainment on its own!!♥️

🎉Fun!🎉

It was always going to be a learning experience ~ first and foremost ~ about wine, cigars, dancing, and especially cooking and good food.  John was joyfully passionate about Good Food!! And cooking with John was always an experience!! EVERYONE in the kitchen, and each with their own task!!  Instead of whistling while we worked, we danced!!  What a dancer!!  John was determined to teach me to salsa - hands on my waist, “BIG hips, Jenny, BIG  HIPS!!”

He was such a fun party planner ~ or replanner, 😉 if he came upon a situation he thought needed spicing up!

When the whole Cuban cul de sac crew convened, we could always depend on John and Dunia Haddad to keep everyone in tearful laughter as they slipped into Spanglish with their incessant, witty, sarcastic banter!  There was Never a time when it wasn’t full out, full on, top level entertainment!!  And John basically embodied
that : full out, full on, top level!

My kids remembered John taking the girls for manicures, and the boys for steaks at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, and talking with them about appropriate table conversation with ladies (who knew?).

It was so great to get to see him at Megan’s wedding, and catch up for a minute.  John left a forever imprint on all of our hearts, and we are grateful!

I have many great memories of your dad,  he was a generous, sincere and had a great sense of humor. I know you will miss him, but is the memories  that last a lifetime.

Conoci a la Familia Blaisdell cuando participabamos en Guaynabo Riding Club para el año 1969. Jackie era un chico jocoso, travieso, pero muy divertido. Le gustaban los retos y gozaba de grandes amigos.  Crecio en una familia de 5 hermanos hasta que al llegar a universidad se fue a estudiar a EU y ahi hecho raices y emprendio su Carrera. The first word that comes to mind when I think of John is LAUGHTER.  Whenever we were together, there were laughs whatever the setting .
He had a huge heart, was generous to a fault and loved being the life of any party.
He was my little brother, big brother to Liz and Tio to our girls, the person we KNEW would be there for them no matter what.
Our family was blessed to have him, words cannot describe the void he leaves in our lives.

John was married to my sister Illy and had two awesome daughters (my nieces).  He instilled great values in the kids.  He was always jovial and an awersome cook!

I remember a time when we were in the car, and Kay Kay (walking in father's footsteps) made him a bet that he would be the next person to say something... and he did, and she won!  Did he throw the deal?  We will never know... but we do know she felt really ingeneous that day...cause she had one on her dad!

That's the person he was, challenging all and serving all at the same time with his generosity.  A true giver!

He will be missed.

I had the honor of working with John when he was the CEO at the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority in the mid-1980s. He needed an assistant, and I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I have fond memories of John combining a great sense of humor with being hard-driving to accomplish whatever goal he had in mind. He was a great teacher and took a great interest in my career. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. May John's memory always be for a blessing.

John IS a good person. John IS a good boss.


Somebody told me ....

“ We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

Of all of the bosses I have had in my rather lengthy career, John was the best.  I will mourn his way-too-early departure from us, and at our next meeting will miss his wisdom, his wit and knowledge more than I care to think about.  Rest in peace John, and to his family my sincerest condolences.

Dear Megan and KayKay, please know our hearts weep with you and at the same time rejoice to know John is embraced by Our Life-giving God.  Heaven is in for a treat; gourmet cooking, great dancing, witty conversations... coming right up! You guys, better than all of us, know that  few people roam this earth carrying their own Magnetic Field; your Daddy was  one of them. May his Memory be Eternal. To Sandy, Linda, and Debbie find peace as  Mama Sharon holds him again!

I was Executive Assistant to Lewis Schaffel and Pauline Winick preparing for Opening Night for the new Miami Heat Basketball Team in 1988.  It was a whirlwind day and before getting changed into our finery for Opening Night, one of the tasks was to stuff 
"Goodie Bags" that were to be given out that evening.  Heat Staff and whoever we could find were doing this as crunch time was fast approaching.  In the thick of it with us was John helping us.  We were all sitting on the floor stuffing and passing bags around to fill with Heat stuff - everyone was telling stories and things were loud, frenzied and hilarious - we were all laughing so hard and so very excited about Opening Night.  John was sitting next to me and it was a hoot.  One of my very best memories of that day.  All of us working together to make Opening Night the Success that it was.  John was a huge part of the early Heat days and a friend as well.  So very shocked and saddened by his very untimely passing.  RIP Blaise - Love, "T-Hon"
