

John was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1949, the son of Alma Tantlinger Winter and John Sr., He is survived by Kitty Wrenn Winter of Lynchburg, Virginia, his loving wife and soul-mate of 24 wonderful years, and his best buddy, “Rusty” the pup.
John worked in Lynchburg with GE/Ericsson for 30 years. After his retirement, he and Kitty moved into their RV, traveled and work-camped for six years before nesting in Houston where they stayed for eight years. During that time John went back to work for Control Concepts and Weatherford, then retiring again. Three months ago, they moved to Point Blank, Texas on Lake Livingston. In time to come, Kitty will be returning to Lynchburg to be with her loving family.
John was a member of White's United Methodist Church in Rustburg, Virginia and associate member of Fairbanks United Methodist Church in Houston.
John was a “gentle giant” with a brilliant mind. He loved church, family and friends, traveling, and he always had a building project.
A Memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Fairbanks United Methodist Church, 14210 Aston (at Stonington). Reverend Deanna M. Young, officiated.
