A graduate of Lake Creek High School in Montgomery, Jonah went on to serve faithfully in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson—a floating city where Jonah, as always, found a way to make even the tightest quarters feel like home. His shipmates remember him as dependable, kind-hearted, and always good for a laugh.
After his service, Jonah began working offshore for Safezone Safety Systems, where he brought the same strong work ethic, gentle humor, and generous spirit that marked everything he did. Whether he was pulling long shifts or fixing someone else’s problem at the end of his own hard day, Jonah showed up—fully present, quietly strong, and always willing to lend a hand.
In his short time with us, Jonah touched countless lives. He had that rare and beautiful gift: the ability to truly listen. He’d sit with you in your mess, hear your heart, and somehow make it feel a little lighter. Yet he rarely—if ever—shared the weight he carried himself. That was Jonah. He never wanted to burden others, even as he carried more than we knew.
He was a good soul. A big-hearted guy with a crooked smile and a deep laugh. He loved hard, helped freely, and cracked jokes that sometimes made you groan before you smiled. He gave more than he took. He’ll be missed more than words can say.
Jonah is survived by his loving parents, George and Gwen Mason; his brother and best friend, Noah; and his cherished sisters, Emma and Madison. He is also survived by his beloved grandmother, Marie, and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who adored him.
If you knew Jonah, you know how much he valued honesty, laughter, and the quiet moments in between. In his memory, let’s be a little gentler with each other. Let’s check in, reach out, and remember that even the strongest among us sometimes need to be carried too.
Jonah, you were loved deeply. You are missed fiercely. And you will never, ever be forgotten.
