

Jose Alejandro Morales Lusthoff “Alex” was born August 21, 1954 in Monterrey Mexico, NL to parents Rosa Irma and Severo Morales. He is survived by his wife Rosa Nellie D. de Morales and children Ian Alexander, Nina Elise and Eric Niles Morales. He is also survived by his father Severo Morales, siblings Abel Morales, Olga Salazar, Rosie Morales and Arturo and wife Blanca Morales, along with many nieces and nephews.
In his earlier years in life Alex attended Austin High school where he was the mascot and graduated in 1973. He helped with his father Severos roofing company and later went to work for Sears and Roebuck. He worked for Sears while paying his way through college at the University of Houston. Alex decided he wanted to join the fire department and received an associate’s degree in fire safety. Shortly after, Alex met his wife Nellie at a mutual friends wedding, they married December 17, 1983 at Corpus Christi Church in Houston, Tx. Alex and Nellie shared thirty years of marriage and raised three children together. Alex worked for the city of Houston’s fire department for 25 years. He worked as a paramedic, fought fires, and also worked in dispatch. He promoted to senior captain and then retired November of 2006. In 2008 Alex was diagnosed with lymphoma, he recovered and was presently in remission.
Along with working for the city of Houston and being a loving father and husband, Alex was a godfather to many children and was sought out to be a confirmation sponsor along with his wife Nellie. He volunteered at various school and church functions. He was a basketball coach at St. Augustine Catholic School, the Salvation Army, the YMCA, and the City of Pasadena leagues. He helped as assistant coach for son Eric’s flag football team at the YMCA in Clear Lake and was also part of the “chain gang” for Clear Lake Christian High Schools football team. Alex was also part of his high schools reunion committee where he helped put together and fundraise for the reunions of his graduating class. He also home schooled his son Eric for four years at their home in Pasadena. He was a great service to his neighbors all around him.
Alex will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The impact he left on this world speaks volumes of who he was as a person and how he was a service to his community. Rest in peace Captain Morales, we love you!
